Western Union service has undoubtedly become a force to reckon with in the money transfer business across the world,
especially on the African continent.
It is no doubt that most banks, financial services, post offices and some private businesses have become agents to facilitate this service.
I visited a Standard Chartered Bank in Accra, Ghana, only to see a notice staring at me; the bank is informing customers that they would no longer offer Western Union services from 27th March, 2012. They are therefore directing customers to go to other places where the service is available.
When I approached a worker in the bank, she failed to tell me the reason for such decision. Does anyone know the reason?
