One name that quickly comes to mind anytime lights go off is the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). Most parts of Ghana are currently experiencing load shedding and as usual the blame from majority of Ghanaians would always go to ECG.
Due to my interest to verify whether it is always ECG that cause this, made me follow today’s press conference organized by the Volta River Authority (VRA).
According to the Chief Executive Officer of VRA, Mr. Kwaku Andoh Awotwe, the current load shedding is happening as a result of reduction of gas the VRA receive from Nigeria.
In view of this, the VRA have no option but to start the “on and off” of power currently going on in Ghana.
At least, this goes to confirm that ECG is always not to be blamed for lights going off. It is worth noting that the load shedding is subject to continue for some weeks to come….Let’s do the right thing to conserve energy!
