After a National drama “involving highly renowned actors/actresses like the Ghana police, prosecutors, judges, defense attornies, observers and the accused”
reportedly unfolded at a Circuit Court in Accra on Tuesday when it came to light that a slab of cocaine in the custody of the Police Headquarters has turned into Sodium Bicarbonate (washing soda), the Inspector General of Police, Ghana, Mr Paul Tawiah Quaye, and/or any of his top ranked members have still not resigned to enable free and fair investigation to go on.
The accused, Nana Ama, was reportedly arrested on August 22, 2008, with a slab of substances suspected to be cocaine and when it was subjected to a chromatography test, it proved positive of cocaine. The Case has been pending for three years now and the cocaine was kept safely at the police headquarters. However, the accused counsel insisted that the cocaine be re-tested and the result tested negative saying the substance weighing 1,020 grams was Sodium Bicarbonate.
It could be recalled that some parcels of cocaine got missing at same police headquaters in the previous administration which led to Ghanaians lambasting the Police and the then Mr.Kuffour-NPP led government.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s Vice President, Mr. John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday called on the Inspector General of Police and the entire Police Administration to carry out thorough investigations into the case and i think this is no news, because it is normal for Politicians to make such submissions in times like these.
Also, the Head of Narcotics Unit of the CID, DSP Kofi Adjei Tuadzrah, has told Joy News’ Dzifah Bampoh, that the police opened the exhibit in court with all interested parties agreeing it was cocaine before it was handed over to the court; hence, the swap was not done in the Police headquarters…Mystery?
One thought that this act of corruption and evil would stop, but the same practice seems to be going on even after Ghanaians defied all odds to change government. It seems they are all the same!
