Moon For Sale; But Who Really Owns The Moon?

On July 20, 1969, astronauts stepped onto the moon and planted an American flag—this was not to claim the moon, but simply to commemorate the U.S role in the first moon landing. Currently China, Russia, and India are all seeking to send astronauts to the moon. An international treaty does not allow any country to own the moon — but as this treaty is still in force, there are some people who believe that countries could be heading towards supremacy of the moon.

It is not surprising that a Nevada entrepreneur says he owns the moon and that he’s interim president of the first known galactic government – according to National geographic.

Dennis Hope, head of the Lunar Embassy Corporation, has sold real estate on the moon and other planets to about 3.7 million people so far. His customer base increased and customers wanted assurance of their property , hence in 2004, Hope started his own government, which has a ratified constitution, a congress, a unit of currency—even a patent office.

According to a story by John Roach, National Geographic news, NASA aims to open the moon for business- “For-profit space business is “critical” to any moon-mission plans, according to NASA under the Bush Administration”.

Lunar Land Claim Certificate

According to Peter Kokh, president of the nonprofit Moon Society, the best possible future is one in which the people of the moon rule themselves.

Friends, If you ever thought that there will be no registered group to sell land on the moon, mars or Venus, then you might be making a big mistake as you can buy a piece of land at ago; starting from 16.75pounds on

The funny aspect of this is that, at the end of the day, the “most powerful people” on earth now, after impacting so negatively on the environment by way of their pollution and degradation activities, will again want another opportunity to “live on the moon”, and continue polluting us down here.

I wonder what would be falling down planet earth each day….Your guess may be good as mine.
